Friday's Letters

Dear Self,
Stop beating yourself up ALL the time!! The things you say to and think of yourself you would never ever say to anyone else. So, why do you say it you? Yes, you are still carrying around some extra weight and are very self conscious about it, but you can and will do something about it. Stop dwelling on the little things and start looking at the big picture! Learn to forgive yourself for your mistakes. Life is full of mistakes, you should know that by now. Use those mistakes as learning experiences and move on. You give such fantastic advice to others; it is about time you start following it.

Dear Kona,
I am sorry you had to take the back burner once the kids came along. I could never ever ask for a more patient and loving dog than you. You are the biggest sweetheart and silliest dog I know. You don't even think you are a dog. You are so loyal and protective of the kids. You have endured endless hours of ear tugging, tail pulling, treat stealing and being ridden as a horse. I promise we will get back to our regular walks soon.

Dear Jaxson,
We may be right at the end of the terrible twos and fazing into the trying threes. We have had some rough days, lately. Momma is still trying to get a handle on all of this. So, please bare with me as I try not to loose my patience. I love you more than words could ever explain and am so proud of all the new things you are learning and doing.

Dear Kendra,
You are really starting to find your voice and have no problem asserting yourself! Nearly everyday you are surprising me with brand new words. A few from this week are shoe, nose and even Zumba! You are a little spitfire and so full of energy. Thank you for being such an awesome sleeper. :)

  1. It is so hard not to beat yourself up, I know this feeling well. At our Mops meeting the other day during our discussion group we were asked, "How do you model(to your children) self-love?" The only answer I could come up with was to stop talking bad about myself. Especially not in front of my girls!

  2. I think women are particularly hard on themselves. I try not to do this but am guilty at times.

  3. What a fantastic post Ashley!!
And you're beautiful, we are always nicer to everyone else aren't we!?

  4. this is one of my favorite posts of yours so far, ashley. BEAUTIFUL!! so beautiful!
i love what you said about not saying the harsh things you say to yourself, to anyone else. wow...what a wonderful, clear and true way to bring clarity to what's been weighing on your mind.
what you wrote to kona and your babies...
you ARE beautiful inside and out.
    remember that <3
    have a happy weekend!

  5. I just wanted to let you know that I tagged you in my post today!

  6. We all beat ourselves up a bit don't we? I remember someone telling me when you're feeling self conscious to look at your thumb, because even though you are thinking about all the little things you hate about yourself, other people just see you as a thumb. Just normal. No one else sees what you see.
