Home made Playdough!

I have had this recipe for playdough sitting around for awhile now and when I pulled out our playdough today and realized how gross and hard it had gotten I  thought I would give this a whirl! (that was a long run on sentence!)

Here is what you need:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup salt
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 tablespoon Alum(a pickling spice, which is a white powder, found in the spice aisle)
- Food coloring (optional)

In a bowl, mix together 1 cup flour and 1/2 cup salt.  In a separate bowl, mix together 1 cup boiling water, your oil, alum and food coloring. Mix your wet ingredients into your dry and begin mixing and kneading the dough. The recipe says to mix more flour in until it is the consistency that you want. I had to add quite a bit. Lasts for a long time in an airtight container or Ziploc bag.

we made pink!
Here they are enjoying it!

  1. Oooh, I can't wait to try this recipe out. We always forget to seal up the play-dough and when we go to use it again it's hard as a rock.
